Here is k during “tummy time”. She’s getting pretty good at it! k has also been sleeping more the past couple of weeks–she can go up to 5 hours at a time now. The past couple of nights haven’t been as good though, because we are transitioning her to a bigger swaddle/wrap and it’s a little too big. k is a little Houdini, and can get her arms and legs out, defeating the purpose of swaddling. D just weighed her and we estimate she is 13 lbs.!
Mile Square Park
k can now add Mile Square Park to her list of “Top Destinations”. We picked up a honey mustard chicken sandwich from Quiznos beforehand and had a picnic at the park. It was nice to see other families with the same idea, spending quality time together.
k sportin’ her new hat. Yes, it is a *little* big.
There was a bunch of ducks eating nearby. D told k they were eating acorns. 🙂
The park has a nice path winding around it. We were wondering how long it is, because it seemed like more than a mile!
I’m not sure how this park rates compared to El Dorado. I guess El Dorado has better birds, and it is closer to our house. Parking is $1 cheaper at Mile Square ($5 compared to $6). There were a lot more kids playing sports at Mile Square. Both parks have small lakes that allow fishing, but I would be scared to see any fish that came out of them.
Playing Around
On Sunday, k was able to meet more of her “aunties”. We went to Lisa’s house and she made an Italian dinner. Many of the ingredients came from Trader Joe’s. Coincidentally, the drinks and dessert, brought by J and R, were also from Trader Joe’s. It was all very yummy.
New Clothes (10 Weeks)
9 Weeks/2 Months
On Friday k went to her first restaurant–Sweetie Thai! We met up with one of D’s friends from B-school who was visiting from New Jersey. k was very well-behaved (she slept in her car seat in the beginning, and then stayed quiet while D and I took turns holding her). There was another 12 week old baby in a car seat right next to us who also slept soundly the whole time. I guess the key is to get a table with a booth so the car seat can fit on top.
On Saturday we ventured out to Bella Terra. There is a nice seating area in the middle with astro turf where kids like to run around. We just parked the stroller and ate lunch out there to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Also of note, k slept for a record 4 hour period of time in her crib last night! Yes!
8 Weeks
Last week k had her “8 week” immunizations. She didn’t cry too much at the Dr.’s office, but she had a rough time later that afternoon. Infant’s Tylenol is a good thing.
Yesterday we attempted to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family. (After all, k is half Chinese! She even got a red envelope!)
Here are some pictures taken in the last few days.
k likes her hooded towels after she takes a bath.
k wore a dress for the first time to church.
Big smile! Although k has been smiling for over a month now, this is the first time I managed to get one on camera.
El Dorado Park
Today the weather was so nice (warm and breezy), we decided to take k to El Dorado Regional Park in Long Beach. We strolled along the small lake, watched the ducks and sat in the shade.

Quality time with Mommy & Daddy
Look at how skinny this bird’s legs are!
On the way home we bought a very berry sundae from Costco–yummy. Too bad k couldn’t have any 🙂

7 Weeks
OK, this post is a little late, but I don’t want k’s 7th week to go unnoticed. Last week we had more visitors, including little v, pictured above. It’s amazing how much a one year difference makes at such a young age.
Yesterday I wasn’t feeling well (not sure what it was–food poisoning? 24 hr. flu?). D was really tired and we realized how much tougher life is when you have to take care of someone else besides yourself. (I feel much better today. Thank you mom for coming over so I could get rest!)
