Too much screen time is something that everyone in our family struggles with. It seems that we are not alone in this battle, as there is a statistic that COVID-19 has caused a 500% increase in screen time for kids. With much of school being virtual and the increased reliance on online learning platforms, this statistic is unfortunately not too surprising. On top of “required” screen time necessary for school and work, we also turn to our screens for entertainment.

The Circle Home Plus is easy to set up and plugs right into your Wi-Fi router. Once connected, the Circle Home Plus automatically detects all of the internet-connected devices in your home. I was astounded to find out that we have twenty-four such devices between our four family members. I had never bothered to count them before, so that was a real eye-opener.

I installed the Circle App on my phone which allows me to manage the connected devices even when I am not at home.

As you can see here, there is a bedtime feature that allows the internet connection to be turned on/off at whatever time you choose. There are also age-appropriate filters that can help prevent unwanted harmful content from entering your home through the internet.

You can even pause or temporarily turn off internet connectivity for a single family member or everyone at once. That would be a fast way to send a message!

There is also a feature called Focus Time that restricts access to certain sites for specific time periods where your student is supposed to distance learning of doing homework.

For my family, I think the best part about Circle Home Plus is that it monitors our internet usage and that we have the freedom to easily make adjustments according to our needs. While I want our family to be able to rely on the internet as a useful tool, my goal is for it not to be the master of our lives.

Using chalk to create chalk art on our driveway is one of the activities that the kids returned to during this past year spent mostly at home. Chalk Alive is a set that adds excitement to ordinary chalk art.
