If you have been following this blog for the past several months, you will recognize All Terrain. So far I have tried and reviewed their natural Insect Repellant and Sunscreen, Eczema Products and Recovery Rub. This review is for another great All Terrain duo: Ditch The Itch Bar and Cream.

All Terrain recommends using the the Ditch The Itch Bar and Ditch The Itch Cream together as a regimen.

First, apply the Ditch The Itch Bar in the bath or shower. Lather, and let it sit for 1-2 minutes; then rinse and pat dry.

Follow up by applying the cream to relieve and protect your skin.

Coincidentally, just when I started thinking about writing this review, my husband said his hand was itchy. He was not sure whether it was a bug bite or something else. I told him I had just the product for him to try! He applied some of the Ditch The Itch Cream and it provided practically immediate relief. The main ingredient in this cream is colloidal oatmeal, which is a natural ingredient that protects and relieves skin irritation. I would highly recommend this product, especially for people with sensitive skin.

When I read the description of Winning Moves Risk Europe, I immediately knew that this would be a game that my son would be interested in. For a couple of years now, he has developed an interest in reading and learning about wars, especially those that occurred in Europe.

This enhanced game of conquest will excite gamers with hours of battle and strategizing to control Europe! Each player steps into the role of a medieval king and competes with a full army to expand their kingdom and take over Europe. Through shrewd tactical planning –and a little bit of lucky dice rolling- one player will conquer Europe and reign supreme! 

The gameboard is quite large and beautifully illustrated. In addition the game includes: 15 Crowns, 4 Armies with 35 Footmen, 12 Archers, 12 Cavalry and 4 Siege Weapons each, 8 Castles, 12 Red Dice, 32 Kings Order Cards, 8 City Bonus Tiles, 21 Gold Pieces, 40 Silver Pieces, 4 War Banners, First Player Marker, Reminder Cards, 8 Crown Cards, Card Box and illustrated instructions.

As you can see, we need a larger game table-ha! My husband and son watched a short YouTube tutorial in order to understand the rules better. It looks like we will be spending a LOT of time at home this winter break, so this will be a great game to have on hand.

Risk Europe is for 2-4 players and is recommended for ages 14+. (However, my son is 11, and he was still interested and able to understand the rules).

Happy December! As we hunker down at home, I am determined to embrace the coziness of the season. I foresee many cups of coffee (for the adults) and hot chocolate (for the kids and the adults) being consumed in the coming weeks.

STEM Lab Kids offers hands-on toys that help kids to develop science, technology, engineering and math skills while having fun. Walter The Walking Robot is a new educational toy that would be great to give kids ages 10-13 this holiday season.

Everything you need to build Walter, including batteries and a mini screwdriver, comes inside the kit.

I would say that building Walter The Walking Robot is a challenging project. There is a booklet with illustrated instructions, and it teaches kids the importance of paying attention to details. If a step does not work quite right, the instructions direct the child to go back and reevaluate what may have gone wrong. Learning how to problem solve is a valuable life lesson that most other toys do not teach.

Once Walter is complete, there are also fun decals that can be used to personalize Walter’s appearance.

It is kind of funny to me that games and toys I grew up with are now considered “retro”. Winning Moves has two products that bring back childhood memories: Monopoly The 1980’s Edition and Rubik’s Christmas Tree.

Monopoly The 1980’s Edition

Monopoly was one of my favorite board games when I was a kid. This 1980’s edition is exactly how I remember it.

It was fun to show our kids how this game used to look in the “olden days”.

Rubik’s Christmas Tree

The Rubik’s Cube is another toy that has stood the test of time. I was never actually able to solve it, but the frustration was half the fun!

This Rubik’s Christmas Tree is a lot easier to solve–ha! It is actually more of a decorative ornament. I like its retro vibe.

The Rubik’s Christmas Tree would make the perfect stocking stuffer for any Rubik’s fan.
