Have you heard of disc golf? I had heard of it and seen a couple of courses, but no one in our family had played it before. When Kestrel contacted me about reviewing a couple of their disc golf sets, I searched for a local course where we could play. I saw that there was a disc golf course located at Aldrich Park in the heart of the UC Irvine campus so we decided to check it out.

The Kestrel disc golf sets each come with three sizes of discs: a driver, mid-range and putter. These discs are made of high quality plastic and are Professional Disc Golf Association approved!

Kestrel Disc Golf Beginning Set Bundle
Kestrel Disc Golf Pro Pack Bundle + Bag

I like how these Kestrel sets come with their own bags. They make it easy to transport and keep the sets together at home.

At first we found a nice open field and practiced throwing the discs back and forth.

Next we started our hunt for the disc golf baskets, which look like this:

However, none were to be found. We even asked a couple of students along the way. I had D look up the course map on his phone and he figured out that this course did not use the baskets. Instead, their “holes” were light posts wrapped with different colors of tape.

The discs are designed for different distances, just as you use different clubs in golf. We ended up guessing where to start from and which target to aim at.

Even though we did not play an “official” game of disc golf, it was still a lot of fun. n wanted to keep on playing, but our parking time limit was up! Next time we will have to find a better marked course with real baskets. However, even if there are not any disc golf courses near you, I think it would also be easy to make your own course, since you really just need to set up targets.

Disc Golf is a great way to spend time together outdoors as a family. A Kestrel Disc Golf set would make a wonderful Father’s Day gift.

Almonds Meet Chips: CrrrunchBites! Review + Giveaway

Disclosure: I received samples in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

As you may recall, a couple of months ago I reviewed a snack called Mozaics. Today I am reviewing another product in the Deliciousness line called CrrrunchBites.

CrrrunchBites are whole roasted almonds wrapped in either a potato chip or rice cracker shell. They come in six delicious flavors:

  • BBQ Almonds
  • Chili Lime Almonds
  • Honey Mustard Almonds
  • Nacho Almonds
  • Ranch Almonds
  • Sea Salt Almonds

These CrrrunchBites are addictive! I am a big almond fan, and the crispy outer shell adds another layer of flavor that is really unique.

It would be a good idea to keep a bag of CrrrunchBites on hand for your next get together for guests to munch on. Don’t they look festive in this cupcake liner?

CrrrunchBites are also good for keeping at work because they are a low-sugar snack with protein and fiber that will help you get through the day. I know that D’s co-workers will all be asking for some when they see them at his desk. The resealable bag helps to keep them fresh.

Use discount code CRRRUNCH20 at checkout for 20% off any CrrrunchBites 6 pack on Amazon.

I am holding a giveaway where three of my readers will each win three bags of CrrrunchBites!

Trying Out The nomakenolife Japanese + Korean Beauty Box #nomakenolife

Disclosure: I received a free sample in order to facilitate this review. I will receive commissions for purchases made through links in this post.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Processed with MOLDIV

Japanese and Korean beauty products seem to be growing in popularity here in the United States. I have not had the chance to try too many, so I was excited to review the nomakenolife subscription box. Each month’s box contains a different selection of beauty products from both Japan and Korea.

Here are some of my thoughts regarding each item that I received in the May 2019 No Make No Life Box.

1. Patting Panda Tool (Japan)

When I first saw this tool I had no idea what it is for and the directions on the package are in Japanese. However, according to the little booklet that comes with the box, “An important part of Japanese and Korean skin care routines is using lotion and gently patting your skin until the product has been absorbed…”. Leave it to the Japanese to make this tool in the shape of a panda bear! Have you ever heard of such a tool?

2. CanMake Lip Tint Jam (Japan)

I like a good lip tint. The color is sheer and lasts longer than lipstick. The color of this one is called No. 4 Espresso Jam. This color is a little too orange for my taste, but I do like the consistency and wear of this tint.

3. Fiancee Fragrance Body Sheets (Japan)

These are sheets that can be used on your body (not face) to stay fresh and moisturized. Grapefruit is my all-time favorite scent, so I was excited about this one. I like how these would travel well.

4. Japanese Bath Powder (Japan, obvi!)

Love the packaging for this product. It would be so cute as a gift topper, don’t you think? I will have to take a bath soon, just to try it out.

5. Fluffy Cleansing Pad (Japan)

I like how this cleansing pad removes makeup and gently exfoliates your skin. It is also nice that it is washable so it can be reused.

6. Berrisom Horror Mask (Korea)

I must say, the packaging for this mask is not appealing to me. Why would I want to wear a mask that makes me look like I am in a horror movie? I guess it might be fun as a Halloween present. However, I felt like this mask does not go along with the whole vibe of the other products in this box.

7. Etude House Oh My Lash Mascara (Korea)

I am always looking for a good mascara. I have heard of Etude House, but have not tried any of their products. I like how this is a true black mascara, and that it is clump-free.

8. Speed Off Brush Cleaning Sheets (Japan)

These sheets use Alkaline electrolyzed water to help clean makeup brushes. I am sure I do not clean my makeup brushes often enough, so this is a good addition to my makeup drawer.

The nomakenolife subscription box offers a nice variety of products in one box. This box contained six Japanese products and 2 Korean products (I am not sure if it is usually more balanced between the two). The monthly box contains 8-9 items, and costs $35 a month with free shipping included. If you or someone you know is interested in trying out Japanese and Korean beauty products, it is worth trying out!

Springtime Calls for Similasan Allergy Eye Relief

Disclosure: I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

As you may have heard, Southern California experienced a “Superbloom” this year thanks to the rain we received in this winter. While the explosion of flowers everywhere is a sight to behold, it can also mean trouble for those who experience seasonal allergies.

Similisan has a product called Allergy Eye Relief that helps relieve allergy symptoms such as itching, burning, watering and redness. This product is unique because it is made with natural active ingredients and does not contain harsh chemicals, antihistamines, or vasoconstrictors.

I tried out the Allergy Eye Relief and it offered the moisture that I need for my sometimes red and itchy eyes.

Similisan also offers other products, including Pink Eye Relief and Earache Relief. It is nice to know that Similisan is a brand that has products that can offer temporary relief of such symptoms using natural ingredients.

Have you heard of Brick Mates? My son loves to build things with his hands, so I knew he would enjoy playing with their Stack By Numbers kits.

Each kit comes with everything you need to create a 3D piece of art that can be hung on a wall. The building process allows kids to use their problem-solving strategies, develop fine motor skills, as well as practice math skills such as counting, quantifying and patterning.

n had a lot of fun putting his picture together and he really liked the 3-D effect of the end product! The Stack By Numbers toys are recommended for kids 5 and up. Younger kids may need some help, but n had no problem figuring everything out by himself.

Stack by Numbers is STEM.org authenticated and recently won The National Parenting Center Seal Of Approval. This would be a great screen-free way to keep the kids busy during a summer afternoon!

Stack By Numbers comes in a variety of different fun designs and can be purchased on the Brick Mates website or Amazon.

I am pleased to announce that Brick Mates has offered to give away a Stack By Numbers kit to one of my readers!

So Many Salsas: Mrs. Renfro’s Review + Giveaway

Disclosure: I received samples in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

Mrs. Renfro’s is a family business based in Texas that has been around for 78 years. They make a wide variety of salsas, dips, sauces, peppers and more. I came across their products at Expo West and knew that I would like to feature them on the blog. When I found out that I could choose two of their products for this review, I had a difficult time deciding because there were so many to choose from!

After some internal debate I decided on the Mango Habanero Salsa and the Nacho Cheese Dip.

I am happy to report that both of these products turned out to be excellent choices. I bought a large bag of tortilla chips from Costco to go with the salsa and cheese dip and my family was set for their snacking for the week! The Mango Habanero Salsa delivered sweet heat and I liked the chunky texture. The Nacho Cheese Dip was really easy to warm up and had a good cheesy flavor with bits of tomato and peppers. Any of Mrs. Renfro’s products would be a welcome addition to your next party or get together.

Mrs. Renfro’s products can be purchased on their website or on Amazon:

One of my readers will also have the opportunity to win two Mrs. Renfro’s products of their choice. (It might be a difficult decision!)

Disclosure: I received a sample in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.

This 828 Movement Bracelet is more than just a bracelet; it provides hope. Unfortunately, educational inequality still exists in America. The 828 Movement is a non-profit that donates 100% of its net profits to underfunded urban schools in the United States.

According to the 828 Movement website, 828 represents several significant days in American/Black History:

August 28, 1833: Slavery was abolished in the UK which led to American abolition.

August 28, 1955: Emmett Till was brutally murdered which was a catalyst to the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.

August 28, 1963: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream Speech”.

August 28, 2005: Hurricane Katrina landed in Louisiana and the delayed response for relief impacted mainly black communities.

August 28, 2008: Barack Obama accepted the Democratic Nomination for President.

Each ring on the American-made 828 Movement Bracelets is symbolic:

 The Past: 13 metal rings
To remember the 13th amendment and lives lost
in the struggle to abolish slavery.

The Present: Engraved ring for August 28th
To honor the date 8/28, when important events in the fight for equality line up in history.

The Future: a single ring for hope
The pursuit for educational equality continues.

These 828 Movement bracelets come in a variety of colors and are a stylish way to support educational equality. This would be a meaningful gift for an educator or anyone else who appreciates the continual fight for justice in our country.

Disclosure: I received samples in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.

This quarter’s New Hope Blogger Box introduced me to a lot of new products, many of which I had never heard of before. Here is a list of the items I received, along with my thoughts on some of the products I have been able to try so far:

  • Bou Brands Miso Broth Cubes: These broth cubes are so convenient to have on hand. I like that they do not contain any MSG.
  • FreshCap Mushrooms Ltd. THRIVE 6 Blend: This mushroom extract blend is supposed to help build immunity and sharpen mental capacity.
  • Health Thru Nutrition CelluRex
  • Hudson River Foods Cherry Brook Kitchen Tempt Hemp Brownie Mix
  • Lacorium Heatlh Natralia Heel Balm For Rough, Dry Feet: My heels were in desperate need of this balm. I am happy to report that this product works. It moisturized my feet and made them noticeably softer.
  • LaCroix Beverages Key Lime Sparkling Water: LaCroix sparkling water has become a staple in our house. I do not think we have tried a flavor we do not like, and the Key Lime flavor is no exception!
  • Life’s Grape Vine-Dried Grapes: My husband and kids liked these (I am personally not a raisin fan).
  • Manuka Health Manuka Honey: This honey is supposed to have a lot of health benefits, and can be consumed or used for skin treatments.
  • Miracle Tree Moringa Infusion Cherry Chamomile Tea: This is tea with added health benefits.
  • Natural Factors Fermented Organic Protein & Greens: This product contains a wide variety of vegetables and can be mixed into a protein drink.
  • Nutrawise Health and Beauty Youtheory Collagen Powder Vanilla: This collagen powder can be mixed with water, coffee or fruit juice and is supposed to counteract the effects of aging.
  • NutriBiotic Essential Electrolytes
  • Outstanding Foods: PigOut Pigless Bacon Chips: These “chips” are actually made out of mushrooms, which seems to be a big trend.
  • Seipel Group UROX Bladder Control: I don’t need this yet, but was able to give it away to someone who does.
  • Smart Baking Company Gluten Free Smart Cakes (Cinnamon): I was able to try these cakes at Expo West last month. I would recommend them if you are eating gluten-free but you miss baked goods. These cakes actually remind me more of muffins.
  • Tom’s of Maine Activated Charcoal Toothpaste: I have to admit, using the charcoal black toothpaste was a little disconcerting at first. However, the flavor is fine and my teeth do feel noticeably cleaner due to the texture of the toothpaste.
  • UbU Health Focus Sparkling Beverage (Yuzu & Lotus Flower): This is a refreshing drink with just a hint of citrus and sweetness.

The Pilgrim’s Progress Is Coming This Easter: Review + Giveaway

Disclosure: I received samples in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.

I had a chance to watch a preview of The Pilgrim’s Progress with my kids, and it is a good one! As I mentioned in my earlier post, I have never read the classic book, The Pilgrim’s Progress. I knew it was an allegory for one man’s journey through the Christian life, but that is about it. The fun part about watching this movie with my kids was seeing them make the connections for themselves. For some of the scenes and characters, the implications are quite obvious, but for others it may be a little more difficult for kids to decipher. I really appreciated how this movie provides a lot of opportunity for deeper discussions about the Christian faith. Watching this movie would be a wonderful way to celebrate the real meaning of Easter with your family. It could also be a way to start a conversation with a non-believer relative, friend or acquaintance.

*Please note that in my opinion, some scenes might be a little intense for younger children.

Watch the trailer:

Genre: drama/ animated
Rating: NR
Run time: 1:45
Studio: Revelation Media
Talent: John Rhys-Davies (THE LORD OF THE RINGS), Kristyn Getty, Ben Price

Disclosure: I received these games in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

Goliath Games has a wide variety of games that are fun for kids of all ages, as well as adults. We had the opportunity to try out three of their games: Word Search, Googly Eyes and Build Or Boom.

Word Search

As a word game fan, Word Search is right up my alley. The special circular board reveals the word that everyone needs to find and the person who finds it puts colored disks on top of the board to mark it. This is a great games for kids and parents (or grandparents!) to play together. It is for 2-4 players, ages 7 and up.

Googly Eyes

Googly Eyes is a drawing game with the addition of goofy glasses that distort your vision. The space you land on the board determines whether you use the easy, medium or hard lenses in the glasses. The glasses definitely make drawing a challenge! This game is for 4-16 players, ages 7 and up.

Build or Boom

Build or Boom is a fun game for kids who like to build (and destroy!) It is a race to see who can replicate the structure and then squeeze the air hose to knock over the opponent’s structure first. This game is for 2 players, ages 4 and up.

All of these games are sure to keep your kids entertained. Plus, playing games like these is a fun way to develop important social skills. Enter below to win Googly Eyes, Word Search AND Build or Boom for yourself! Be sure to also enter the other #HoppyEaster blogger giveaways below!
