It’s Been 3 Weeks?

It is hard to believe that little k is over three weeks old. Just in the past couple of days, she’s been able to sleep a little longer at a time (3 hours last night). She also has started to vocalize by making little peeps, instead of just crying. k also has the cutest smile when she is about to doze off to sleep, but I have yet to be able to capture it on camera. We can’t wait for her “real” smiles!

It Gets Easier, Right?

Today we went to k’s 2 week check up with the pediatrician. (He was on vacation last week). She now weighs 7 lbs. 11 oz., (which is good, since she initially lost too much of her birth weight). D can’t wait for her to hit the big 8.0 (lbs., that is). k was surprisingly very calm when the doctor examined her. I’m not really looking forward to her next visit, since she will be getting her immunizations.

The sleepless nights are starting to take their toll on us. I’ve been told the first month is the hardest, and I’m really hoping that is true. D and I were used to getting 8+ hours of sleep a night…that now seems like a distant memory.

The First Days

1st checkup

I was proud of D for being able to stay in the delivery room the whole time with me. He witnessed everything first hand and had a better vantage point than I did. Here is k being checked out for the first time.

1st car ride

We got to go home around noon on Sat. morning. Apparently, a lot of people scheduled c-sections on the 21st so they could be home for Christmas.

Until Christmas day, k was not able to sleep at all unless she was being held. Once she was able to sleep on her own, albeit for a short amount of time, it was a huge relief.

burrito

Our little burrito. I can’t recommend this wrap enough–it has velcro tabs, making the whole swaddling thing a lot eaiser. (Thanks jen & jason!)
